How I Used AI to Strategically Grow a Mobile Mechanic Business

As a business leader, you're constantly managing multiple priorities, from operational efficiency to growth strategies. In today’s fast-paced environment, leveraging AI can be a game-changer, especially when it's integrated into a well-thought-out growth strategy.

For a mobile mechanic business, we harnessed AI to automate and streamline key processes, from onboarding new employees to generating marketing content. By doing so, we not only saved time but also enabled the business to focus on scaling effectively.

Here’s how we used AI in the growth strategy:

Improving and streamlining operations

One of the latest growth challenges for this client was managing the onboarding process for new employees. Our marketing tactics were sending tons of new customers their way, and creating the need to onboard new mechanics.

The owner was hesitant about the daunting task of creating an onboarding process, and considered hindering growth because they just didn’t know how they were going to find the time to hire more mechanics. We find this problem common across many industries where they start experiencing growth from a marketing plan but weren't prepared to handle the influx of new business.

We needed a streamlined, consistent approach that could be easily replicated as the business expanded. I turned to AI tools like ChatGPT, which allowed us to create comprehensive onboarding checklists for new hires. This tool automatically generated customized checklists based on the specific roles within the company, ensuring that no detail was overlooked. This not only saved time but also allowed the business owner to focus on more critical tasks, knowing that the onboarding process was in good hands.

Creating critical documents in a fraction of the time.

Another area where AI tools shined was in creating an employee handbook. Previously, this task would have taken weeks, if not months, to complete. If I’m being totally honest, it would probably never have been done. Again, we knew it was a necessary step in growth, but could also hinder growth if it became a barrier to hiring. And again, the business owner was considering turning off all marketing tactics because they just couldn't handle all the new business. Using ChatGPT, we were able to draft a professional, well-structured handbook in a fraction of the time. The AI analyzed best practices in the industry, along with specific details input by the client, and tailored the content to the specific needs of a mobile mechanic business. This handbook became a valuable resource for both new and existing employees, helping to standardize procedures and improve overall efficiency.

Summarizing useful content.

One of the more unique applications of AI was in summarizing YouTube videos that the client frequently sent me on marketing strategies. I love engaged clients, and this one loves to do their own research and ask me for my opinion. Again, using ChatGPT, I was able to quickly digest these videos and pull out key insights, which I then integrated into our marketing plan. This saved hours of manual note-taking and ensured that we could implement new strategies more rapidly.

AI Tools for the win!

The benefits of using AI tools in this project were clear: time savings, increased efficiency, and the ability to complete tasks that might have otherwise fallen by the wayside due to time constraints. Solving these challenges in the business allowed them to get the most of their marketing investment. They were able to handle the influx of new business and increase revenue. Our strategic use of AI tools didn't just automate tasks; it enhanced decision-making by providing insights quickly, allowing us to move from planning to execution at an accelerated pace. This is what growth is all about.
